Facebook’s new podcast tools are set to launch next week

Podcast tools are the next step in Facebook’s podcast/page integration. They will enable podcasters to” promote their podcast content in-app by directly connecting their audio content back to their Facebook audiences for listening in-stream.”

Twitter is working on new controls over who can @mention you in their tweets

Alongside the new addition for controlling who can reply to your tweets, Twitter is experimenting with new options for users to limit who can @mention them on the app. This “could help people avoid unwanted attention, and limit negative experiences in the app.”

YouTube will no longer allow alcohol, gambling, and political ads

Alcohol, gambling, prescription drugs, and election and political ads will no longer have exposure on YouTubes Masthead Ads which prominently fill the top of the screen in the app. This could have a big impact, specifically on the reach of these campaigns.

Pinterest launches new virtual test drive ad experience

Partnering with Pinterest, Volkswagen is providing an interactive in-car experience activated through its Promoted Pin as part its new campaign. This immersive, AR-like experience is likely a taste for what’s to come in the app’s eCommerce efforts.

Facebook adds a new range of Group admin tools

The new admin tools include improved comment moderation processes, ‘Conflict Alerts’, and “an updated overview dashboard which will highlight group tasks that require attention.” However, the main update is to the Admin Home set up simplifying admin access to various management tools.
