The metaverse is well underway. This week, Meta previewed its work on haptic gloves which would enable users “to feel and interact with virtual items in digital space.” However, the accessibility and affordability of metaverse items for regular consumers is still a while away yet.

Twitter improves labels for misinformation

Twitter’s new labels are now displayed in different colours with a greater variety of messaging for potentially misleading tweets. The aim is “to provide more context, and to better explain why each tweet has been flagged.”

TikTok launches ‘Creative Exchange’ platform

TikTok is strengthening its options for brand and creator partnerships with its new ‘Creative Exchange’. The platform “will enable brands to pitch a campaign brief, which creators can then respond to and arrange sponsored content deals.”

Facebook adds Shops in Groups

Shops in Groups is part of a range of new product and shopping options in Groups for Facebook’s ongoing eCommerce expansion. Shops in Groups is a dedicated Shop tab in Group displays “to capitalise on niche targeting and community engagement.”

Instagram adds new Text-to-Speech option in Reels

Instagram has been inspired by TikTok once again. The new ‘Text-to-Speech’ option for Reels is essentially the same option on TikTok, providing “an artificial voice to read any text overlays” to clips. The feature is already popular on TikTok, allowing creators to add narration and humour.
