Meta expands ‘Redirect Initiative’
Meta has announced its ‘Redirect Initiative’ will be extended to Pakistan and the UK in an expansion of its efforts to stop the potential radicalisation of people through its apps. If a person searches on Facebook using words linked to organised hate or violet extremism, the top search result will be a link to resources and support.

Instagram is rolling out new features for Safer Internet Day, including its new ‘Your Activity’ display to enable easier content management within the app. There will be expanded access to its Security Check-up tool to help users improve their experience.

Pinterest is bringing back its virtual ‘Pinterest Presents’ conference this year, providing new insights into key usage trends, platform features and future updates. The theme for the conference will be ‘It’s different here’.

Messenger adds new Valentine’s Day features
Messenger has announced new features to coincide with Valentine’s Day, including expanded voice messages, split bill payments, and voice message previews. There will also be new artwork and interactive options including sticker packs and photo frames on Messenger Kids to help them share virtual valentines with approved contacts.

Twitter is currently working on a new ‘Articles’ function, which appears to provide a way to create blog posts within the app. A test tweet featuring the function was recently spotted on the platform.
