Facebook tests ‘Subscribers Only’ post feature
Facebook tests a new post option called ‘Subscribers Only’ where individuals can select to share posts to their ‘subscribers’ for an initial period, whether that be 24 hours, 48 hours or a week. Similarly, they have reviewed an option to enable creators to share content with ‘top fans’.

YouTube adds voiceover to Shorts
In a bid to capitalise on the growing popularity of short videos, YouTube has added voiceovers to its shortform sharing platform, YouTube Shorts. Creators will be prompted to add a voiceover once they’ve recorded their clips.

Instagram videos under 60 seconds no longer split
After testing the feature for the past year, Instagram verifies that stories under 60 seconds will no longer be split into 15-second segments. This will assist with the aim to simplify the app, whilst still maximising user engagement.

Meta adds an account switching tool
Meta adds an account switching feature where you can easily ‘switch’ profiles from Instagram and Facebook, as well as see the number of notifications on each account. In addition, they are beginning a new account registration feature that will allow people to login easily from one app to the other.

WhatsApp launches a new ‘Call Links’ feature
WhatsApp initiates a new URL ‘Call Links’ for group video and audio chats, making it easier for discussions and group calls to take place in the app. You will have the ability to create dedicated URL Links on chats and within the apps ‘Calls’ tab.
