Google launches add-on prompts in search bar

Google has announced a new update on the search bar, which provides related prompts to help refine your query as you go. Google will give a listing of related topics within your search results, providing a simple way for people to easily tap on each option and refine their results.

Twitter announces re-launch of paid verification plan

After recent suspension of Twitter’s $8 verification plan after only a day of launching, the app is planning to restart the program with an increased price. The program will now cost $8 to sign up on the web, or $11 per month for users that sign up on an iOS device, due to Apple’s 30% in-app payment tax.

Meta adds Facebook and Instagram audience targeting

Meta is is now allowing digital marketers to run ads on Facebook and Instagram targeting their Instagram followers. This gives content creators a whole new audience to target when promoting content on Instagram, and can also be used as a source for a Lookalike Audience on Facebook.

Young users turn to TikTok for news content

A recent report from the Reuters Institute has revealed approximately 40% of young app users are increasingly turning to TikTok as a source of news and information, as opposed to Google Search or Maps. This high level of interest in news coverage through the app is causing multiple news organisations to create content for the platform.

Instagram adds ‘candid’ BeReal replica function

Instagram is launching many engagement elements within the app, designed to tap into the personal interactions of users. These include a Notes conversation-prompting function designed to increase interaction between connections, group profiles/accounts which are only visible to group members, and ‘Candid Stories’ (similar to BeReal) to share what you are doing in-the-moment.
