Instagram is adding tools for users to control their in-app experience, with ‘Quiet Mode’ enabling them to take breaks from the app and options to manage content recommendations. This is being introduced as teens have expressed that they find it challenging to take time off the app.

Twitter has updated its API usage term and is now banning the use of third-party apps that enable users to scroll through their Twitter feed. Third party clients that provide an alternate Twitter experience by avoiding ad exposures have been banned.

EU regulators are warning TikTok to either adhere to the rules and regulations or risk being banned from the region. This is because young TikTok users have been able to access harmful and potentially life-threatening content within the app.

Meta centralises ad preferences across Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram
Meta has introduced a new Account Centre feature located in the settings menu, which gives users the option to connect different accounts for Meta-owned apps such as Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. The company also advised it will be improving its ad settings controls to help users manage their own ad experience.
