Instagram launches Channels chat feature

Instagram is rolling out a new feature called Instagram Channels, which will be a group function within the app designed to help users stay updated on specific topics, brands and people. The channels will support text, images, polls and reactions.

TikTok provides 70,000 new data insights

TikTok has this week added another 70,000 additional insights to its TikTok Insights tool, which is an interactive app content creators can use to identify and analyse specific usage trends and shifts. The results can also be filtered be different topics and geographic regions.

Pinterest expands idea pin video length

Pinterest is joining other social media platforms and providing a longer video clips option to maximise content engagement. The clips, which will be five minutes long at most, will be available in the Idea Pins format.

Meta provides more ad targeting insights

Meta is updating its ‘Why am I seeing this ad’ listing to provide additional information on ad targeting, and how Meta’s systems display ad to each user. The tool will now provide more ways to find ad controls for users, summarise information about how user activity may inform the ads users see, and new illustrations explaining how the machine learning models work.

YouTube adds Shorts comment reply option

YouTube is giving users the ability to reply to posts with a Short in the comments feed, giving users another engagement option for iOS users this week, with Android to follow ‘in the coming months’. YouTube is also adding new Data Stories for posts; providing more insight into how a channel’s YouTube content is performing.
